Fuel Relief Gains Momentum as Punjab Registrations Hit Two Million

Additional Chief Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo says 1.7 million registered citizens have already redeemed tokens, while inspection teams are monitoring implementation across Punjab.

LAHORE: Around two million people have registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Subsidy Scheme across Punjab, with approximately 1.7 million registered citizens having already obtained and redeemed tokens to avail subsidised fuel, according to Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo.

Sahoo said the subsidy facility is currently available at more than 6,300 petrol pumps across the province, while inspection teams are visiting fuel stations to monitor implementation and ensure that eligible citizens receive the relief.

Online Monitoring of Subsidy Scheme

He said the entire subsidy delivery mechanism is being operated online, enabling authorities to continuously monitor registration, token redemption and implementation of the programme.

For public facilitation, banners carrying information about the scheme have been displayed at participating petrol pumps across Punjab. Help desks have also been established at fuel stations to guide citizens regarding registration and the procedure for obtaining subsidised fuel.

Measures for Public Facilitation

Officials said the measures are aimed at improving public awareness, facilitating beneficiaries and ensuring transparent delivery of the subsidy.

Fuel Relief Scheme for Targeted Consumers

The federal government launched the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme to provide targeted support to lower- and middle-income consumers amid higher petroleum prices. The ECC-approved programme covers motorcycles, three-wheelers and cars up to 800cc through a digitally managed Fuel Pass System.
