LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday reportedly dismissed the interim bail petitions of five police officials in a case involving allegations of a fake police encounter, leading to arrests and tense scenes outside the court.
According to information shared by journalist Zaeem Leghari, the court rejected the interim bail pleas of a former SHO along with four other police personnel.
Former SHO Arrested After Bail Rejection
Following the court proceedings, lawyers reportedly protested over the arrest of the SHO outside the Lahore High Court, after which he was taken into custody.
Allegations Remain Under Judicial Proceedings
The allegations against the police officials remain subject to judicial proceedings, and dismissal of bail does not constitute a finding of guilt.
Lahore High Court has previously taken a strong judicial position on alleged fake encounters, stressing that due process cannot be bypassed and that extrajudicial actions have no legal foundation.
