LAHORE: The case involving an Azerbaijani woman who previously reported an alleged sexual assault in Lahore has taken another turn after she reportedly refused to leave Pakistan from Allama Iqbal International Airport.
According to a report published on October 3, Diana reached the airport but declined to depart, alleging that police and other authorities were attempting to send her back to Azerbaijan against her wishes.
Investigation Into Earlier Complaint Continues
The latest development comes amid an ongoing police investigation into her earlier complaint. Police had registered a case after Diana alleged that she was sexually assaulted in Lahore’s Defence area. Authorities subsequently identified suspects and made arrests as the investigation progressed.
Diana has also recorded a statement before a court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The court proceedings reported earlier indicated that she chose to record the statement voluntarily.
Airport Allegations Remain Unverified
A social-media post circulating on Saturday additionally alleges that Diana accused Lahore Police of trying to force her onto a flight and claimed that her passport was thrown on the airport floor when she resisted. These specific allegations are attributed to the social-media account and have not been independently verified in the sources reviewed.
The same post makes several further claims about Diana’s personal history and alleged conduct. Those claims should not be presented as established facts without documentary or official confirmation. Azerbaijani outlet 1News has previously challenged similar social-media claims about her private life, saying it could not find supporting law-enforcement or court documentation for them.
Further clarification from Lahore Police or other relevant authorities would be required to establish the circumstances surrounding Saturday’s airport episode.
