LAHORE: Authorities have intensified action against smoke-emitting vehicles across Lahore as part of efforts to curb environmental pollution and smog, with more than 10,000 vehicles reportedly fined during September.
Action Against Smoke-Emitting Vehicles
According to figures cited by traffic police, enforcement against smoke-emitting vehicles increased significantly during the month. The reported data shows a 215 percent increase in action compared with August and a 1,149 percent rise compared with January.
Officials say general checking of vehicles entering Lahore through both internal and external routes is continuing, while commercial vehicles are undergoing particularly strict scrutiny.
The crackdown forms part of broader measures aimed at controlling vehicular emissions, which remain an important contributor to Lahore’s air-quality challenges.
Authorities have urged motorists to keep their vehicles properly maintained and ensure compliance with applicable emissions standards as monitoring and enforcement continue across the city.
