LAHORE, October 8, 2026 — The Lahore High Court (LHC) has imposed a ban on mobile phone photography, video recording and the creation of TikTok content within its premises, introducing restrictions applicable to lawyers, police personnel, journalists, litigants and visitors.

LHC Bans Photography and Video Recording
The restrictions were formally notified following approval by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum.
According to the circular issued by Registrar Abdul Rahim, recording videos, capturing photographs and producing TikTok content will no longer be permitted inside courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, administrative offices and other locations within the court premises.
The directive applies to all individuals entering or working within the Lahore High Court, including judicial staff, legal practitioners, law enforcement officials, media representatives and members of the public.
However, the notification provides an exemption for the designated area reserved for journalists, allowing media professionals to continue their reporting activities within the specified location.
Violations May Lead to Legal Action
The court administration has warned that individuals violating the restrictions may face strict legal action under applicable laws.
The circular further states that mobile phones or other recording devices used in violations may be confiscated where legally authorised.
Registrar Abdul Rahim has directed relevant administrative officials, the Public Relations Officer, research and reference officials, representatives of Lahore High Court Bar Associations and security authorities to ensure strict implementation of the instructions.
The new restrictions establish clear boundaries for photography, video recording and social media content creation within the judicial premises, while retaining a designated space for media coverage.
