HBL PSL 12 to Begin March 18 With Eight Teams

Pakistan's premier T20 league will feature eight teams for the second consecutive season, with defending champions Peshawar Zalmi preparing to retain their title as the PCB confirms the tournament window

LAHORE, October 8, 2026 — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the 12th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) will take place from March 18 to May 2, 2027, marking another major chapter in the country’s flagship T20 cricket competition.

HBL PSL 12 Dates Announced

The upcoming tournament will feature eight franchises for the second consecutive season, following the league’s expansion in 2026.

According to the PCB, the tournament window was finalised after consultations with franchise owners and representatives during the HBL PSL Governing Council meeting held in London on September 1, 2026.

Representatives of all eight franchises attended the meeting, where discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming season and the league’s continued development.

HBL PSL 11 marked a historic turning point for the competition, introducing the player auction system for the first time in place of the traditional player draft.

The previous edition also witnessed record-breaking fan engagement, with 32,461 spectators attending the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the highest attendance recorded in the tournament’s history.

Peshawar Zalmi emerged as champions of HBL PSL 11 after defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the final. The victory secured Zalmi’s second PSL title and ended a nine-year championship drought.

PCB Confident of Another Successful Season

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised the success of the previous season, saying HBL PSL 11 demonstrated the league’s potential on the international stage.

He highlighted the thrilling matches, record crowds and new broadcasting milestones achieved during the tournament.

Naqvi reaffirmed the board’s determination to organise another outstanding season in 2027, expressing confidence that all eight franchises would deliver high-quality competition.

HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer also expressed optimism about the upcoming tournament, saying the management was committed to meeting the growing expectations of cricket supporters across Pakistan and internationally.

He described the announcement of the 2027 tournament window as the first step towards another exciting season.

According to Naseer, all eight participating franchises will be more determined than ever to compete for the championship, while millions of cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the next edition.

The league administration will announce further details regarding direct player signings and the HBL PSL 12 player auction in the coming months.

The complete match schedule, host venues and ticketing arrangements will also be announced separately.

With the official dates now confirmed, the countdown has begun for another season of Pakistan’s premier franchise cricket tournament.
