Punjab Plans Recruitment and Procurement of 1,289 Vehicles and Machines

The developments were discussed during a performance review meeting of the Punjab Horticulture Authority, chaired by Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin.

Director General Ahmad Usman Javed briefed participants on the authority’s current performance, ongoing activities and proposed development plans aimed at improving horticultural services across Punjab.

Speaking at the meeting, Bilal Yasin announced that billions of rupees had been allocated for the operation and maintenance of public parks, greenbelts and other horticultural projects throughout the province.

He stressed the importance of strengthening district horticulture authorities to ensure better maintenance of green spaces, improved landscaping and sustainable beautification initiatives.

Digital Monitoring System Planned for Horticulture Operations

The minister also announced plans to introduce a digital monitoring dashboard to maintain and track records of nurseries, vehicles and machinery. The system is intended to improve resource management, operational oversight and institutional efficiency.

Bilal Yasin directed the relevant authorities to modernise horticultural operations and focus on sustainable business models to strengthen revenue collection.

The proposed recruitment and distribution of additional machinery are expected to enhance the capacity of horticulture authorities to maintain parks, roadside plantations and public green spaces in different cities.

Managing directors representing 21 districts participated in the review meeting through video link, where administrative requirements, operational challenges and proposed improvements were discussed.

The provincial government’s initiative aims to extend urban greenery and landscaping improvements beyond Lahore while strengthening the institutional framework responsible for maintaining public parks and greenbelts across Punjab.
