LAHORE: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yasin chaired a performance review meeting of the Chief Minister’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme, where officials reviewed loan disbursements, recoveries and targets for the ongoing month.
Officials Review Housing Programme Progress
Officials from the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), Bank of Punjab and Urban Unit briefed the meeting on the programme’s progress.
Loans Approved for Over 215,000 Families
According to figures shared at the meeting, loan approvals have been granted to more than 215,000 families, while the amount provided under the programme has crossed Rs273 billion. The meeting was informed that 122,000 houses have been completed, while another 57,500 houses currently under construction are expected to be completed during the current year.
Target Set for 300,000 Families
Bilal Yasin said applications submitted through the programme’s portal have crossed 1.6 million, while the provincial government aims to extend loans to more than 300,000 families during the current year.
The minister also directed that once a loan is approved, applicants should be informed through a phone call in addition to an SMS notification.
Programme Disbursements Continue to Rise
The latest figures represent a further expansion of the programme. Earlier this month, Radio Pakistan reported that the initiative had been selected for a UN Scroll of Honour Award, while an APP-sourced report on September 21 said more than Rs264 billion had been disbursed at that stage.
