LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Lahore deputy commissioner and other respondents on a petition challenging the detention of PTI leader Mian Muhammad Akram Usman.
Petition Challenges Detention Order
Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition filed by Usman’s brother, Haroon Akbar, who has asked the court to set aside the detention order.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner argued that the deputy commissioner had issued the detention order unlawfully and maintained that it was contrary to law. The petitioner requested the court to declare the order invalid.
LHC Seeks Replies from Respondents
After hearing the initial arguments, Justice Haider issued notices to the deputy commissioner and other respondents, seeking their replies before adjourning further proceedings.
Separately, reports earlier this week said the Lahore deputy commissioner had issued 30-day detention orders under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order
