cSeeks Facilities Report, Adjourns Imran’s Sisters’ Detention Petitions

Lahore High Court seeks a report on medicines, clothing and essential facilities for Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, while adjourning detention petitions until October 12.

LAHORE, October 9, 2026: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a report from the relevant authorities regarding the provision of medicines, clothing and other essential facilities to Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, during a hearing on petitions challenging their detention.

LHC Seeks Report on Prison Facilities

Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petitions concerning the detention of Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. The proceedings were held on an application filed by Aleema Khan’s son, Shahrez Khan, with Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar appearing on behalf of the petitioner.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel informed the court that miscellaneous applications had been submitted seeking permission to provide essential medicines, clothing, books and other necessities to Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi.

Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar argued that 19 days had passed without the requested medicines and clothing being provided to the detained women.

Justice Abher Gul Khan questioned the counsel over earlier statements concerning the provision of necessities, observing that clothes and medicines had previously been supplied following judicial directions.

The lawyer clarified that he had acknowledged receiving those items in compliance with court orders.

The judge subsequently directed the petitioner’s counsel to submit a written list specifying the items required by the detained women.

The court observed that only items specifically authorised through judicial orders would be permitted inside the prison.

When the lawyer requested permission to provide medicines, clothing, books and food items, Justice Abher Gul Khan indicated that permission could not be granted for food and beverages.

The court subsequently decided to seek a report from the relevant authorities on the miscellaneous applications concerning the requested facilities.

Detention Petitions Adjourned Until October 12

During the proceedings, Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar also requested the court to hear the main petitions challenging the detention orders.

Justice Abher Gul Khan responded that the immediate issue concerning medicines and clothing should be addressed first, after which the principal detention petitions could be considered.

The judge further asked the lawyer to decide whether he wished to proceed with arguments on the main detention petitions or pursue the miscellaneous applications concerning prison facilities.

The court eventually adjourned further proceedings on the petitions challenging the detention of Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi until October 12, 2026.

The three sisters were previously detained under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, with their detention orders subsequently challenged before the Lahore High Court.

The legality of their detention remains subject to judicial proceedings, while the court has sought further information regarding the provision of essential items to the detained women.
