LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s Lahore Zone has arrested social media content creator Muhammad Shahzaib, widely known as Shahzaib Sialkoti, following a female journalist’s complaint over an allegedly abusive and humiliating video posted online.
Published coverage identifies the complainant as journalist and anchor Bushra Shakeel. According to Mashriq News, she said she approached NCCIA after Shahzaib allegedly used offensive language and derogatory descriptions against her in a social media video. The arrest was reported on October 22, with further coverage appearing the following day.
The Complaint and Arrest
According to Dunya News, a case was registered following the journalist’s complaint that Shahzaib had uploaded an insulting video targeting her on Facebook. Investigators subsequently conducted a raid at City Housing Society in Sialkot, where he was arrested and two mobile phones were seized.
The report attributed the operation’s details to sources, saying the raid was authorised by the NCCIA Lahore additional director and carried out following information about the suspect’s whereabouts.
Bushra Shakeel said her application prompted an inquiry and subsequent action. She welcomed the arrest and called for legal action over offensive language directed at women online. Her account remains the complainant’s position; the allegations have not been established by a court in the material reviewed for this report.
What Investigators Say They Recovered
The NCCIA, reported that officers recovered a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and an iPhone 17 Pro Max. An initial technical examination covered the suspect’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts, while a video related to the complaint was reportedly located in the iPhone’s downloads folder.
APP said a case had been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and that further investigation was under way. Its report did not specify the individual sections invoked.
Source claims that the video had been uploaded on September 10, 2026, and subsequently deleted. The same report said investigators found monetised Facebook and TikTok accounts linked to a bank account. These are reported investigative claims; monetisation by itself does not establish wrongdoing or prove that a particular video generated revenue.
Background: The Dispute Involving Rajab Butt
The October arrest follows earlier public controversy involving Shahzaib and fellow content creator Rajab Butt.
A July 9 report by Pakistan Times said Rajab had reportedly initiated legal proceedings over allegedly defamatory remarks. However, that report did not independently establish the status or outcome of those proceedings.
It also described footage circulating online in which Shahzaib could reportedly be heard asking that a video not be uploaded. Crucially, the publication said the footage’s connection to the reported legal proceedings remained unverified. It therefore cannot reliably establish that he was escaping arrest or leaving the scene of an offence.
The July report also described a separate media appearance outside NCCIA’s Lahore office involving Shahzaib and Maan Dogar. Shahzaib said they had approached authorities over allegedly hurt religious sentiments and accused some media outlets of circulating edited material. Those assertions represented his position in that earlier dispute, rather than independently established findings.
Earlier Disputes and the Present Case
The available reporting does not establish that the earlier controversy involving Rajab Butt and Maan Dogar forms part of the case registered on the journalist’s complaint. Likewise, the reviewed sources do not substantiate claims that Shahzaib or his lawyers physically assaulted reporters outside NCCIA.
The central issue in the present investigation is the allegedly abusive video identified in the journalist’s complaint and the digital material investigators say they recovered. Earlier social media arguments cannot substitute for evidence concerning that allegation.
