Lahore DC Orders Month-Long Detention of Imran’s Sisters

Lahore deputy commissioner orders Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the MPO and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

LAHORE: Lahore Deputy Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz has ordered the 30-day detention of PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO). Both have been shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

30-Day Detention Ordered

According to the detention orders, the action was taken following a police recommendation citing concerns over public order. The documents state that both women are residents of 14-B Upper Mall, Lahore.

The detention order, as provided, cites police allegations linking the two women to the May 9 protests, road blockades and damage to public property. It further cites a police assessment alleging that their activities through social media and public meetings could lead to renewed disruption of law and order. These are allegations contained in the authorities’ detention rationale, not independent findings of guilt.

Police Cases Cited in Detention Order

The order also refers to cases registered against them, including FIR No. 96/23 at Race Course Police Station. Reports on Monday confirmed that the Lahore administration ordered both women detained for 30 days and transferred them to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Aleema Khan Also Detained

The development follows the detention of another of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, under the MPO ahead of PTI’s planned September 27 protest.
