Lahore High Court Orders Heart Medication for Dr Uzma Khanum

Court reserves decision on summoning senior Lahore officials as petitions challenging the detention of Imran Khan’s sisters remain under hearing.

LAHORE, October 12, 2026: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed authorities to provide heart medication to Dr Uzma Khanum, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, during a hearing on petitions challenging the detention of Dr Uzma Khanum and Noreen Niazi.

LHC Orders Provision of Heart Medication

Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petitions filed by Sakina Niazi and Ahad Khan.

During the proceedings, the court reserved its decision on a request to summon the Lahore Deputy Commissioner, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Superintendent of Police (SP), and other relevant officials in person.

Petitioners’ counsel Rana Mudassar Umar argued that summoning the officials would help clarify the circumstances surrounding the detention notifications.

He maintained that the petitioners were not seeking extraordinary facilities in prison but only essential items required by the detained women.

During the hearing, Dr Uzma Khanum’s husband, Ahad Khan, appeared before the court and informed the judge that his wife suffers from a heart condition and requires three medications daily.

He requested the court to ensure that the prescribed medicines are delivered to her regularly in prison.

The court subsequently directed that Dr Uzma Khanum be provided with her heart medication.

Request for Basic Necessities and Family Meetings

Meanwhile, Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar also requested permission to provide Noreen Niazi with clothing, medicines, and prescription glasses.

He argued that these were basic necessities and that access to such facilities was a fundamental right.

The lawyer further requested permission for the detained women to meet their family members and legal counsel in prison.

The court reserved its decision specifically on the request to summon senior officials, while the petitions challenging the detention remain under consideration.
