Two-Day E-Tag Delay Gets Johar Town SHO Suspended

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran suspends the station house officer and front desk staff after a citizen's complaint reveals a two-day delay in processing a police application.

LAHORE, October 13, 2026: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran has suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Johar Town Police Station and its front desk staff over negligence in processing a citizen’s complaint and issuing an electronic tracking tag (E-Tag).

Johar Town SHO, Front Desk Staff Suspended

According to the details provided, a citizen approached Johar Town Police Station with a complaint concerning a physical altercation and the alleged snatching of personal belongings. However, despite the passage of two days, the police failed to issue an E-Tag for the application, delaying the initiation of legal proceedings.

Frustrated by the delay, the complainant visited the office of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran and brought the matter to his attention.

The DIG ordered an examination of the complaint, which confirmed the citizen’s allegations regarding the delay in processing the application.

Taking notice of the negligence, Faisal Kamran ordered the immediate suspension of the Johar Town SHO and the police station’s front desk personnel.

He also assigned a comprehensive departmental inquiry into the matter to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations.

DIG Warns Against Delays in Public Complaints

Speaking on the issue, DIG Faisal Kamran emphasized that timely legal action on citizens’ complaints is a fundamental responsibility of the police.

He warned that negligence in issuing E-Tags, unnecessary delays in legal proceedings, and failure to address public grievances would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The DIG further directed all police stations to ensure that complaints are promptly entered into the system and that the necessary legal procedures begin without avoidable delays.

He stressed that keeping citizens’ complaints pending contradicts the principles of public service and that police officials must remain accountable for negligence in performing their duties.
