Afghan Nationals Among Four Arrested in FIA Lahore Anti-Corruption Operation

NADRA intelligence officer among four arrested as FIA investigates alleged illegal acquisition of Pakistani identity documents and manipulation of family records in Lahore

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore has arrested four suspects, including two Afghan nationals and a NADRA intelligence officer, in a case involving the alleged illegal acquisition of Pakistani identity documents.

Four Suspects Arrested in Identity Documents Case

According to initial information, the FIA launched the operation at the Executive Passport Office in DHA Phase 3, Lahore, after receiving information about the presence of Afghan nationals at the facility.

One of the suspects, identified as Faisal alias Irfan, allegedly obtained a Pakistani identity card through illegal means. Investigators also found that his name had reportedly been added unlawfully to the family tree of a Pakistani family.

Two Afghan nationals, identified as Dilawar Khan and Jahanzeb Khan, who had accompanied Irfan, were also taken into custody during the operation.

NADRA Intelligence Officer Arrested

Following preliminary investigations, the FIA arrested Shoaib Bhatti, an intelligence officer with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), from the Johar Town NADRA Centre.

Initial investigations reportedly suggest that the NADRA intelligence officer was allegedly involved in collusion with the other suspects. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the suspected involvement of NADRA personnel and other individuals in the alleged manipulation of identity records.

Further investigations are underway to establish the facts and determine the extent of the alleged illegal activity.
