DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for September 2026, recognising standout performances across international cricket.

Men’s Player of the Month Nominees

India’s Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, along with Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, have been shortlisted for the men’s award. Gill scored 333 runs in two ODIs against the West Indies, including a remarkable 223 not out, while Sharma accumulated 229 runs during September and produced a record 30-ball T20I century against Afghanistan. Raza impressed with both bat and ball during Zimbabwe’s matches against Australia.

Women’s Player of the Month Nominees

In the women’s category, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has been nominated alongside India’s Sree Charani and Shafali Verma.

Athapaththu scored 226 runs and claimed 14 wickets across seven T20Is during September. Her standout bowling performance came against Indonesia in the Women’s Asia Cup, where she returned extraordinary figures of seven wickets for five runs, including a hat-trick.

India spinner Sree Charani claimed 18 wickets in seven T20Is during the month and reached 817 rating points in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, the highest rating ever achieved by a women’s T20I bowler.

Shafali Verma also enjoyed an outstanding month, scoring 360 runs across seven T20Is. She struck a 49-ball century against Bangladesh in the Asian Games semi-final and played a major role in India’s Women’s Asia Cup and Asian Games campaigns.

Fans to Join Voting Process

The winners will be determined through votes from the independent ICC Voting Academy and cricket fans worldwide. The Voting Academy carries 90 percent of the overall vote, while registered fans account for the remaining 10 percent. Pakistan is represented in the academy by Sohail Imran and former Pakistan captain Sana Mir.
